Russian PM directs the government to formulate a response to US sanctions

RUSSIA (OBSERVATORY) –┬áPrime Minister Dmitry Medvedev directed his government on Monday to draft possible steps of retaliation for new US sanctions against Moscow on Friday, Interfax news agency reported.

Medvedev described the new US sanctions as unacceptable and illegal and said Russia reserved the right to respond.

She added that the prime minister also ordered his government to develop a plan to support entities on the US sanctions list.

On Friday, the United States imposed major sanctions on Russian businessmen, companies and government officials targeting President Vladimir Putin’s allies in one of Washington’s toughest measures against Moscow for punishing allegations of interference in the US presidential election in 2016 and other what the United States called “malicious activities.”
