UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – The main priority of the UN Security Council and the international community today should be the prevention of war in Syria, said Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia.
On Thursday, Sweden distributed to the UN Security Council a draft resolution on sending a high-level disarmament mission to Syria. Discussion of the project began in the course of consultations of the Security Council on Thursday.
Following the meeting, Nebenzia said that the adoption of the proposed draft resolution by the Council is not the main priority “in the current circumstances.”
“The immediate priority is to eliminate the danger of war,” the Russian permanent representative told reporters at the UN.
