UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — The drones that attacked the oil facilities of Saudi Arabia were of Iranian origin, Bloomberg reports referring to the official representative of the Arab coalition, Turki al-Maliki.
He also told reporters in Riyadh that these attacks were not carried out from Yemen.
The coalition promised in the near future to publish the results of an investigation into the circumstances of the attack, as well as photos of the weapons used in the attack. They assured that the coalition is able to protect the most important facilities in the region.
On the night of September 14, Saudi Aramco’s national oil company was attacked by drones. In particular, the world’s largest oil treatment complex, located in the east of the country, was attacked. This led to a reduction in oil production in Saudi Arabia by half – by 5.7 million barrels per day.
Husite Yemeni rebels claimed responsibility for the attack, but the United States questioned their involvement and blamed the Iranian authorities for what happened. Tehran rejects these allegations.
At the same time, CNN reported, citing an unnamed U.S. administration official, that the angle of attack, the number of impact points, and other information the U.S. has, suggests that the attacks on Saudi oil facilities were carried out by Iran or Iraq.
