UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — Several people were wounded when shots were fired in the streets of Washington, DC, not far from the White House, local media reported.
Fox-5 television quoted police as saying six people were injured in the incident, which occurred after 10 pm EST.
Reuters could not reach police or firefighters to confirm the report. There was no mention of the injured.
ABC’s WJLA showed Twitter images of ambulances transporting victims from the scene and reported a “widespread” police response at the intersection of 14th Street and Columbia Road, 3km from White House.
