SOUTH KOREA (OBSERVATORY) – Representatives of South Korea during a three-day visit to China announced a new policy of cooperation with the countries of the region. This is reported by the Yonhap.
It is noted that the head of the South Korean Committee for Northern Economic Cooperation, Son Yong Gil, talked with representatives of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences about the position of Seoul regarding the policy of cooperation with countries such as Russia, China and North Korea.
According to him, South Korea could participate in the project of China “One belt – one way”, which, according to Seoul, will create more opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.
In particular, according to Song Yong Gil, Beijing and Seoul could jointly develop navigable routes in the Arctic, as well as projects related to the development of renewable energy sources in Mongolia.
During the meeting, the representative of the South Korean side also called on China to play a “constructive role” in the process of denuclearization of the DPRK.
Earlier it was reported that the leader of North Korea Kim Jong Un for the first time in seven years of his rule left the country to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
