State Department said that the US does not seek a confrontation with Russia in Syria

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – US Assistant Secretary of State Wess Mitchell, speaking in the House of Representatives Committee of the US Congress, said that the American side does not seek to confront Russia in Syria, but is ready to use force if necessary.

“We supported incident prevention channels to avoid clashes in an increasingly congested and complex combat space. These efforts help minimize the risk of miscalculation, misunderstanding or accidental collision, “he said.

The diplomat stressed that the US “does not seek confrontation”, but “are ready to apply the necessary and proportional force for protection.”

Earlier, Chancellor of Austria Sebastian Kurz called for avoiding escalation between the Russian and American sides because of the situation in Syria.
