UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — One of its diplomats delivered a message from the United States to Iran on Friday about the killing of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, in a US air strike, the Swiss Foreign Ministry said.
“The charge d’affaires was informed of Iran’s position and in return he delivered a message from the United States,” the ministry said in an email response to a query from Reuters, without elaborating.
Switzerland represents US interests in Iran, allowing for a diplomatic channel of communication between the two countries.
