Taliban kidnapped three officers of the election commission in Afghanistan

AFGHANISTAN (OBSERVATORY) –┬áMilitants of the radical Taliban * kidnapped three Afghan election commission staff from the voter registration center for the upcoming parliamentary elections, Tolo News reported.

The incident occurred on Tuesday in the province of Gur in the central part of the country. Attackers also abducted two policemen. Earlier, the center was attacked by the Taliban.

Combined elections to parliament and district councils of Afghanistan are planned for October 2018, voter registration in the country started on April 14.

After the opening of the registration of voters, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani invited the Taliban * to return to the peace process as a political movement and take part in the elections. The Taliban responded to the proposal with a refusal.
