Tehran will continue its oil exports “by all means possible”

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — The Iranian Oil Minister promised that his country would not give in to “US pressure” and continue to export crude despite sanctions.

Iran will use all available means to export its crude oil, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh said on the ministerial website.

“We will use every possible means to export our oil and we will not give in to American pressure because exporting crude oil is a legitimate right for Iran,” the minister said.

According to him, Tehran wants to maintain friendly relations with neighboring countries.

“We want to be friends with all the countries in the region. Our common enemy is outside the Middle East,” said Zangeneh.

He also said he was ready to talk to the Saudi oil minister, adding that he would do it “without problem”.

– Iran faces US sanctions –

Following the reinstatement of US sanctions against the Islamic Republic, its crude exports dropped sharply. In response, Tehran announced the abandonment of some of its commitments under the Iranian nuclear deal reached in Vienna in 2015.

In July, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that his country would continue to export oil “under any circumstances”.

By 2021, Iran plans to set up a new pipeline that will allow it to transit its oil overland bypassing the Strait of Hormuz.
