UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – Tesla, the maker of electric cars, has said it will temporarily suspend production of the Model 3 model to correct the manufacturing process, given the delay in delivery of the models.
The group has already stopped a week of production in February of this type of car, which is of particular importance to its strategy because it will allow it to target middle class consumers of cars and the market for vehicles destined for the public.
The company reiterated the same message, which it confirmed at the time, confirming Monday that “the production program + Model 3+ includes suspensions of production both in the factories of Fremont (California) or in Gigagatori 1 (in Nevada).”
“These periods are used to improve automation and solve bottlenecks in production to visit the production pace,” the letter, which received a copy, said.
“It is not unusual, it is normal to increase production,” the letter said.
The news site “Buzzid”, which was the first to reveal the suspension of activity “four days to five” in the production line “Model 3” at the plant Fremont, that the employees concerned were not informed of this stop.
The head of Tesla, Elon Musk, has finally taken the lead in producing the car. In a letter posted on Twitter on Friday, Mask acknowledged that “over-automation of Tesla + was a mistake.”
He promised on the same day that the group would make profits in the third and fourth quarters, which would set a precedent since its inception in 2003.
Tesla has received advance orders for hundreds of thousands of Model 3 cars, but manufacturing is lagging behind initial production forecasts of 5,000 model 3 cars per week at the end of 2017 and 10,000 at the end of 2018.
In early April, the production rate was slightly more than two thousand cars a day.
