The capital of Indonesia flooded due to heavy rains

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Dozens of areas of Jakarta were under water due to prolonged heavy rains, reports The Coco.

According to the disaster management agency, about 40 districts of the city were affected by heavy rains.

Most flooded the eastern part of Jakarta, in particular, Kramat Jati. There, the water rose to 80 centimeters. More than a thousand people were forced to leave their flooded homes.

Meteorologists warn that flooding in the city will continue until March.

On New Year’s Eve, Indonesia has experienced the most intense rainfall over the past twelve years. Due to natural disasters, 67 people died, tens of thousands of residents were evacuated.
