The first case of coronavirus detected in Egypt

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Egyptian Minister of Health Hala Zayed said that the country recorded the first case of coronavirus.

The disease was detected in a foreigner who is a carrier of infection, but does not show symptoms of the disease.

Egypt became the first African state to detect this infection.

The carrier is currently quarantined for up to two weeks. All infections that are in contact with the carrier are also placed under quarantine, although no symptoms of the disease have been identified.

The minister did not divulge the personal data of the patient, but according to local media, the infected person is a man who is about 40 years old and a citizen of China.

Meanwhile, WHO recognized the outbreak as an emergency of international importance and gave the disease its official name – COVID-2019. According to the latest data, the number of people infected in China exceeded 66 thousand people, 1523 died, 505 people were infected outside of China, including two cases in Russia.
