The number of “very rich people” in the world grew by 10%

The number of “very high net worth individuals” worldwide in 2019 increased by 10%, reaching 2.7 million. This is stated in a study by Wealth-X. Wealth-X refers to people as “very rich” with fortunes ranging from $ 5 million to $ 30 million (poorer than “ultra-rich” with fortunes of over $ 30 million).

The aggregate fortune of the “very rich” has grown by the same 10% – in 2019 it reached $ 26.6 trillion. At the same time, in 2018 this indicator grew by only 1%.

Hong Kong closes the top three (64 855 people). The top 10 also included Los Angeles, London, Paris, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington and Dallas. Russia is not among the ten countries with the highest level of wealth according to Wealth-X.

In 2019, an active increase in the number of very rich people was noted in Asia and Africa. In Europe, this figure did not increase so quickly, but better than in the Middle East. In Latin America and the Caribbean, wealth growth has not been recorded.
