UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – Experts of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) will soon go to the Syrian city of the Duma, where chemical weapons were allegedly used, the OPCW official website says.
The message emphasizes that the director general of the organization considered the possibility of sending specialists to Syria to investigate the incident in the Syrian city. In the near future a group of experts will be sent to the Duma. In this regard, Damascus needs to take all necessary measures.
In turn, the permanent representative office of Russia with the OPCW supported the initiative of the organization and advocated the prompt dispatch of experts.
The chemical attack in the Syrian Duma allegedly occurred on Saturday, April 7. The organization “White Helmets”, which in Russia is considered an “accomplice of terrorists”, asserts that the attack was organized by the Syrian government led by Bashar Assad.
In turn, the Russian authorities refute this information. In particular, specialists from the Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties surveyed the Duma and found no traces of chemical weapons . The Ministry of Defense of Russia emphasizes that it is a question of provocation, the purpose of which is to disrupt the truce.
