US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — The number of victims of coronavirus in Italy has reached 107. The Italian authorities have published the latest official data updated by 17.00 on 4 March 2020.
The number of infected people in Italy has reached 3089, 276 of which have been cured by the virus.
The number of patients admitted to the intensive care unit is currently 295, 1346 are being treated in hospital facilities and 1065 in home conditions.
The highest number of infected people is in the Lombardy region with 1820 cases and 73 victims were verified.
Next comes Emilia Romagna region with 544 infected and where 22 victims were registered and Veneto region with 360 cases and 6 victims.
To date, 28837 swabs have been carried out nationally in Italy to analyze whether or not the virus is infected.
Valle d’Aosta is the only Italian region where no case of coronavirus has been verified.
Whereas in the Calabria, Basilicata and Bolzano regions only one case has been verified.
The Italian government is expected to formalize a new draft law on drastic measures to cope with the country’s coronavirus emergency.
Today, March 4, 2020, an emergency meeting of the Conte government was held, where, according to local intelligence agencies, the decision was made to close schools of all cycles nationally.
Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has announced that he will hold a press conference this evening to brief on new measures taken by the government.
