Third passenger of Diamond Princess liner dies from coronavirus

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The third passenger of the quarantine cruise ship Diamond Princess died today of pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus. This is reported by the NHK channel.

It is noted that the deceased is an 80-year-old man, a citizen of Japan.

Recall, the ship Diamond Princess quarantined off the coast of Japan because of the 80-year-old passenger who left at the port of Hong Kong, where he was then diagnosed with coronavirus. After that, the ship was isolated from the world, and all the people on board – more than 3.5 thousand people – were tested for the virus.

More than 700 people are already sick.

The number of cases of infection with the new 2019-nCoV virus exceeded 78.5 thousand, 2462 people died, 22 936 recovered. Almost 11 thousand people who arrived in Russia from China remain under control, Rospotrebnadzor reports. There are no new cases of infection in the Russian Federation.
