UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Three rockets hit the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, one of the projectiles causing damage to the restaurant, media reports said.
Three rockets hit the US embassy in Baghdad, the Al-Arabiya chain said, adding that one of them had damaged the restaurant.
At the same time, AFP learned from a source of the security services that three of the five rockets fired had hit the American embassy and that one of them had crashed in a cafeteria at the dinner time. It is the first time that these rocket hits have directly hit the U.S. Embassy, located in the green area regularly targeted in recent months.

US Ambassador to Iraq Matthew Teller strongly condemned the attack in which several rockets fell into the compound of the diplomatic mission, said Al Hadath.
Up to five rockets had fallen earlier in the day near the U.S. embassy in Baghdad, Reuters reported, citing a security source.
