Three rockets fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel (IDF)

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — Three rockets fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel on Sunday caused no casualties, the army said.

“The Iron Dome system intercepted two of the rockets,” the army said in a statement.

The rockets fired sirens and halted a concert at a festival in Sderot in southern Israel, a spokesman for the municipality near the Gaza Strip said.

The municipality of Shaar Hanegev, in southern Israel, said in a statement that a rocket had landed in a field, causing a fire.

Since the beginning of August, Palestinian rockets, infiltrations from Gaza and retaliatory strikes by the Israeli army have been recorded, threatening to undermine the truce reached between Hamas and Israel, which is preparing for legislative elections scheduled for 17 September.

Observers say that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking to avoid escalation with the Israeli sector under siege in order to ensure relative stability during the election, noting that a number of political opponents demand a firmer response to Hamas.

The Islamic movement did not endorse the rocket fire or attempts to infiltrate militants into Israel, in an attempt to force the Jewish state to make concessions to improve the situation of the people of the Gaza Strip without blowing up the truce, analysts said.
