Trump announced the elimination of bin Laden’s son

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — US President Donald Trump said that US security forces destroyed the son of the founder of Al-Qaeda Hamza bin Laden.

“Hamza bin Laden, a high-ranking al-Qaeda member and son of Osama bin Laden, was killed in a US counter-terrorism operation in the Afghanistan and Pakistan region,” the US president said in a statement.

According to Trump, the loss of Hamza bin Laden will deprive the militants of one of the leaders and eliminate the “symbolic connection” with his father. In addition, the elimination of the terrorist will undermine the important operational actions of the group.

“Hamza bin Laden was responsible for planning and working with various terrorist groups,” the head of the White House explained.

Messages about the possible death of Hamza bin Laden appeared in the media in the summer, but then in Washington they were not officially confirmed.

The United States has announced a reward of up to a million dollars for information about Hamza bin Laden. American sanctions were against him. According to the Department of State, he has been a member of al-Qaeda since August 2015 and has called for attacks in different countries.
