UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — US President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that the complaint of someone revealing the president’s conversation with a foreign leader was about a “perfectly appropriate dialogue”.
Trump said he did not know who he was or the nature of the allegations, but made clear that all his conversations with foreign leaders were always appropriate.
“He is a party detector,” he said. “This is just another political espionage.” That’s all about it”.
The Trump administration faces a crisis with leaders of the Democratic-controlled House over an August 12 complaint within the intelligence community that is said to be linked to Trump’s talks with a foreign leader.
The intelligence oversight committee concluded that it was correct and linked to an urgent issue and should be presented to Congressional leaders through a process authorized by US law.
