Trump confirms CIA chief met Kim Jong-Un in North Korea

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) –¬†US President Donald Trump confirmed that candidate for US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un last week.

Earlier, the Washington Post reported that a secret meeting between Mike Pompeo and Kim Jong-no took place in the DPRK. As the newspaper notes, this trip allowed to hold the first “meeting at the highest level between the two countries since 2000”, that is from the moment of talks between Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

“Mike Pompeo met with Kim Jong-un in the DPRK last week, and the meeting was very smooth and good relations, the details of the summit are being worked out now.” Denuclearization will be a great achievement for the world and also for North Korea,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

The inter-Korean summit between the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-no and South Korean President Moon Jae-in is scheduled for April 27, after which it is planned to hold a meeting with Kim Jong-un in May with US President Donald Trump.
