Trump confirms “he has not seen” a copy of his former adviser’s book

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Donald Trump announced Monday that he had “not seen” a copy of the book of his former adviser John Bolton, which confirms that the US President conditional on granting military aid to Ukraine with investigations of Kiev about his political opponents.

“I have not seen the copy,” Trump said from the White House after previously denying on Twitter what was in the book.

“I have never said to John Bolton that Ukraine’s aid is linked to investigations into Democrats, including Biden,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

“He never objected to the matter upon his dismissal,” he said, accusing his former adviser, who was sacked in September, of seeking to “sell his book.”

According to a copy of the book that has not been published yet, The New York Times reported that Trump announced to Bolton his refusal to disburse $ 391 million in military aid to Ukraine as long as Kiev did not launch an investigation into Democrat Joe Biden and his son Hunter, a former employee of a Ukrainian gas group.

Democrats, after publishing the article, were quick to demand that Bolton and figures with important positions in the Trump administration be called in, including his office director Mick Mulvani, to testify at the ongoing Trump impeachment trial in the Senate.

The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives charged Trump with abusing power and obstructing the work of Congress on December 18. But his removal appears unlikely, as he needs two-thirds of the Republican-dominated Senate (53 out of 100).

Trump’s lawyers assert that there were no conditions for the disbursement of aid to Ukraine on the pretext that its freezing was not linked to the Biden investigation request. But the copy of Bolton’s book, which confirmed his willingness to testify before the Senate, contradicted that.

And Democrat Adam Schiff, who is leading the trial, confirmed on Twitter that the President “obstructed” opposition requests that Bolton testify.

“Now we see the reason: Bolton directly contradicts the president’s defense line,” he added.

Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi believes that the Republicans ’refusal to listen to Bolton or other witnesses has” become less justified. ”

“The choice is very clear: our constitution or a cover-up,” she added.
