Trump: I have not yet decided to lift sanctions on North Korea

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) –¬†US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is not the end of the road, but the beginning of a negotiation process to be followed by other summits.

Speaking to reporters during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the White House, Trump said that the decision had not yet been made to lift sanctions on North Korea, adding that Pyongyang’s complete abandonment of its nuclear program was not negotiable.

The US president noted that his meeting with the North Korean leader “will be more than a photo shoot.”

Trump said he would discuss with Abe his upcoming summit with Kim Jong-un, as well as US imports of Japanese cars and a host of other commercial issues.
