UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — US President Donald Trump said on Monday that trade negotiations with China were in a much better position than ever, and in response to a question on whether tariffs on Chinese goods could be postponed, “everything is possible.”
Earlier, Trump said on the sidelines of the Group of Seven summit in France that he believed that China wants to conclude a trade agreement after contacted US trade officials on Sunday night expressing its willingness to return to the negotiating table.
“Everything is possible. I can say that we have very important conversations, much more honestly than ever. ”
“China is a great country … losing millions of jobs going to other countries. If I were in their place I would have concluded an agreement.”
“I think now we may be in a much better position than ever to negotiate,” Trump said. A fair agreement for all.”
