Trump revealed the details of sending to Poland the US military

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — US President Donald Trump said that the United States is likely to move the military to Poland from other places in Europe, rather than send an additional contingent there.

US and Polish presidents Donald Trump and Andrzej Duda signed a Joint Declaration on Military Cooperation on Monday in New York.

“We will cooperate in various military fields,” Trump said at a meeting with Duda. According to him, Poland will be engaged in the construction of facilities for the deployment of the US military.

“We will probably be moving the military from other places in Europe, rather than sending new ones there,” he added. Trump also denied that sending additional US troops to Poland was caused by a threat from Russia. “I don’t think so at all,” Trump said.

It was planned that a declaration of military cooperation would be signed in Warsaw during the visit of Trump from August 31 to September 2, but the American leader postponed his visit to Poland. In connection with the postponement of Trump’s visit, Poland and the United States postponed the signing of the next declaration on military cooperation, which refers to the implementation of previous agreements regarding, in particular, strengthening the US military presence.

In early summer, it was agreed that the United States would deploy the MQ-9 U.S. reconnaissance drones squadron on Polish territory. The parties also agreed that the United States will increase the number of its troops by one thousand people from the current 4.5 thousand people.

In turn, Poland undertakes at its own expense to prepare all the necessary infrastructure to accommodate such a large number of US military and equipment.
