UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — US President Donald Trump announced his intention to introduce additional sanctions measures on Iran in the next two days. At the same time, what specific restrictions will be introduced, the American leader did not specify.
The American president stressed that there are many options for pressure on Iran, including “extreme measures”. He clarified that by them he means war, but noted that there is no talk of such a development of events at the moment, reports CNN.
On the same day, Trump discussed measures of influence on Iran with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, reports The Jerusalem Post. According to the publication, both leaders declared “the need for a unified diplomatic response from international partners to attacks on sites of the Saudi state oil and gas company Saudi Aramco.”
On September 14, two oil facilities in Saudi Arabia were attacked . Attacks were committed against the oil companies of the state-owned company Saudi Aramco. The incident provoked Riyadh’s cut in oil production by more than half and a jump in raw material prices. Oil production capacity is planned to be restored by the end of September.
On September 16, the Arab coalition blamed Iran for the attack, but Tehran called the allegations a lie. Responsibility was assumed by the followers of the Ansar Alla Yemeni rebel movement of the Hussites and have already promised to carry out another attack.
