UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — US President Donald Trump has to pay $ 2 million to settle the lawsuit of the State of New York against charitable organizations of the US President, the court said.
The New York State Attorney General’s office demanded $ 2.8 million from the fund, which was collected by the Trump charity fund and then transferred to its campaign headquarters in the 2016 elections.
After that, the funds went to charity. However, the transfer to the headquarters of funds originally collected for charity was a violation of the law, the court found.
“However, given that the funds ultimately went to the recipients to whom they were intended, namely to organizations in support of veterans, I award Mr. Trump to pay $ 2 million without interest as compensation for violation of the duties of the trustee (Foundation),” says the seven-page decision, which was signed by New York Supreme Court Judge Saliann Scarpulla.
The parties had already reached an agreement on settling the case without conducting a process, and the payment of compensation was left to the discretion of the judge.
Trump has repeatedly accused the New York authorities of political bias and stated that he intends to win the case. Trump has not yet responded to today’s court order.
