UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – The World Trade Organization (WTO), like the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), is unprofitable for the United States, said US President Donald Trump.
“Japan and South Korea would like us to return to the TTP, but I do not like this deal for the US There’s too much commitment and no way to get out of it if it does not work.Look at how bad the US is for the World Trade Organization, wrote Trump on his Twitter.
He stands for bilateral agreements with specific countries. Trump repeatedly criticized the agreement on the TTP during the election campaign and withdrew the US from the treaty shortly after assuming the presidency in early 2017.
However, in 2018, he expressed his readiness to rejoin the agreement if his conditions were improved.
CCI could cover 40% of the world economy and a third of world trade. After the US withdrawal, 11 countries remain – Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, Japan, Mexico, Chile and Peru.
