Turkey and Russia play a very powerful role in the Libyan cause

EU High Representative for External Relations and Security Policy Josep Borrell has stated that Russia and Turkey currently play a very strong role in the Libya issue.

Borell at the European Parliament (EP) General Assembly session in Strasbourg, speaking about the Libyan crisis, said that Libya would provide a ceasefire.

He recalled that the leader of the illegitimate armed forces in Libya, Khalifa Haftar, left Moscow without signing the ceasefire agreement. “I can guarantee that a ceasefire will be secured in Libya,” Borell stressed.

The EU High Representative said they also support the Berlin process on the Libyan issue.

“Europeans are more active today than they were six months ago, but currently Russia and Turkey play a very powerful role in the Libyan issue,” Borell said, adding that resolving the crisis in Libya is not a military way.
