Turkey reports first case of coronavirus

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — The first case of a new type of coronavirus has been reported in Turkey.

This, according to NTV channel on Wednesday, said the Minister of Health of the country Fakhrettin Koja.

It is noted that the infected is a Turkish citizen. The patient’s condition is assessed as stable; he is quarantined.

An outbreak caused by the new coronavirus disease was recorded at the end of December 2019 in Wuhan. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized it as an epidemic with many foci and an emergency of international proportions. Outside the PRC, the most infected are in Italy, South Korea and Iran.

Cases of infection were detected in more than 100 countries, including Russia. In China, which accounts for the majority of cases, over 3.1 thousand deaths were recorded, 59.9 thousand people recovered, the number of cases of infection remained at around 80.7 thousand.

In total, over the world, according to WHO, over 110 thousand people, more than 4 thousand died.
