UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — The Turkish military continues to transfer armored vehicles to the Syrian border, Anadolu reported on Friday.
It is noted that a column of tanks and armored personnel carriers from various military units of Turkey reached the Antakya region in the province of Hatay bordering Syrian Idlib. The column advanced to military units on the border with Syria in compliance with security measures.
Earlier on Friday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that Russia had given security guarantees to Turkish observation posts in Syrian Idlib.
After negotiations on Syria in Nur Sultan on August 2, a ceasefire regime came into force in Idlib.
The command of the Armed Forces of the SAR said it would stop the fighting provided that Turkey fulfills its obligations under the Russian-Turkish agreement reached in September 2018 in Sochi. The main point was the withdrawal of heavy and medium weapons of militants 20 kilometers from the demilitarized zone in Idlib.
Three days later, on August 5, the army resumed the operation due to failure to comply with conditions on the part of the gangs, which, taking advantage of the lull, made attempts to attack the positions of the Syrian army in the north of the province of Hama and repeatedly opened fire on residential settlements in that area.
