Turkish soldier killed in Idlib

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — A Turkish soldier died as a result of shelling in Idlib governorate. This was reported by the Hürriyet newspaper .

As a result of the burst of a shell fired by the forces of the [Syrian President Bashar al-Assad] regime in the Idlib region, our military was killed. He suffered a martyr’s death, the administration of the Turkish province of Gaziantep, from where the military was born, said in a statement .

As stated in the Ministry of Defense of Turkey, the military “suffered a martyrdom” at the moment when he was taken to the hospital.

“After this incident, we hope that the blood of our martyrs will never be left on this earth!” We express our deepest condolences to the family of the military serviceman, and also ask God’s mercy to the Turkish armed forces and our people,” the newspaper quoted the agency as saying.

According to the ministry, during the operation 21 shells were revealed. After the attack, the enemy was fired by means of fire support, as a result of which all targets were destroyed. The necessary precautions are currently being taken to prevent a second attack.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Erdogan said that everything “what is happening right now in Idlib can be called a war.” He later discussed the situation in the Syrian de-escalation zone with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the talks, the parties spoke in favor of reducing tensions in the region and neutralizing the terrorist threat.
