Two anti-submarine Tu-142 flew over the Norwegian and Barents Seas

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The crews of two long-range anti-submarine aircraft Tu-142 of the Northern Fleet completed a training flight over the neutral waters of the Norwegian and Barents Seas for a duration of about 12 hours.

Pilots went at a given course in conditions of an orientation-free terrain, having worked out coherence when piloting without ground-based radio navigation aids.

The crews also completed training to solve problems in the far sea zone and conducted ice reconnaissance.

As the Northern Fleet press service emphasized, flights conducted as part of the crew’s combat training program in the winter training period were carried out in strict accordance with the International Airspace Use Rules.
