UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — Uber Technologies said on Thursday it had received more than 3,000 reports of sexual assaults related to its US flights, including rape, in 2018 during its 1.3 billion flights.
Uber said in a report that 2018 figures represent a 16 percent decrease in the rate of incidents compared to the previous year in the five most dangerous categories of reported sexual assaults.
Uber said 99 percent of all US flights, which totaled $ 2.3 billion in 2017 and 2018, ended without safety-related accidents.
The Uber report aims to reassure drivers and the public that they are serious about safety.
The 84-page report comes nearly two weeks after Uber announced it would appeal against the decision to revoke its London license because of a “pattern of failures” on safety.
