UN: Our experts in Saudi Arabia to investigate the Aramco attacks

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — The United Nations announced on Thursday the arrival of a team of experts to Saudi Arabia, to investigate attacks on oil facilities belonging to Aramco.

A spokesman for the United Nations Organization Farhan Haq, in a statement, that “the Committee of Experts on Yemen arrived in Saudi Arabia, and began an investigation into the attack on oil facilities,” without further details, according to “Associated Press.”

Following the targeting of two Aramco oil facilities in eastern Saudi Arabia on Saturday, Riyadh called for an international investigation with the participation of UN experts.

Several countries, including the United States and France, have also announced the dispatch of experts to participate in the investigation.

The Houthis have claimed responsibility for the attack, saying they carried out the drones, but US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, blamed Iran for the attacks.

On Saturday, Riyadh announced the control of two fires in the facilities of “Abqaiq” and “Khurais” of the “Aramco” in the east of the Kingdom, because of targeting drones, adopted by the Yemeni group “Houthi”.

These two facilities are the heart of the Kingdom’s oil industry, where most of the crude extracted for processing reaches them before they are exported or refined.
