UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced that the United States and its allies need only 24 hours to prepare a missile attack against Syria.
These statements were broadcast as Western countries seek to stage a chemical attack to falsely accuse Damascus.
“The coalition has about 60 missile launch vehicles deployed in the Middle East. Nearly 280 cruise missiles are stored in their weapons depot and two US destroyers USS Carney and USS Ross are deployed in the region, each carrying 28 Tomahawk cruise missiles,” Zakharova told reporters on Thursday.
Earlier, the US Department of Defense rejected Moscow’s claims that US forces were preparing for an attack in the region.
After the release of information on strengthening the US military presence in the region, the destroyer The Sullivans of the US Navy departed the Persian Gulf.
Referring to the Pentagon’s denial of a reinforcement of the US military presence in the region, Zakharova said: “The US military has forgotten to say that it is able to prepare in 24 hours for an attack on the United States. missile against Syria. The American-French-British attack group currently has transport planes, strategic and tactical aircraft on its bases in Jordan, Kuwait and Crete.”
Yesterday, Wednesday, August 29, the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, described as baseless the Western allegations of a possible chemical attack by the Syrian army.
“I reject Western allegations that the Syrian army wants to carry out a chemical attack in Idlib. The chemical attacks in Khan Cheikhoun and Eastern Ghouta were staged to falsely accuse the Syrian army, “Sergei Lavrov added.
“At the time, Western countries prevented the opening of an international investigation into alleged chemical attacks,” he said.
The Russian minister also reported contacts between Moscow and Washington to examine the military situation in Idlib in northern Syria.
“These are just fabricated allegations that the Syrian army intends to carry out a chemical attack in Idlib,” he said. And to conclude: “If Idlib is the last stronghold of terrorists, then they must be wiped out to the last.”
Lavrov also announced an agreement between Moscow and Ankara on the measures to be taken before the Battle of Idlib.
“We agree on distinguishing between the other groups of Idlib Front al-Nusra and terrorists who do not accept any dialogue,” he added.
