UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – Striking a blow to Syria, the United States has chosen as its target areas where there almost certainly should not have been Russian troops and air defense, said CNN military analyst Rick Francona.
In addition, according to the expert, Moscow was aware of the high probability of a strike and, in connection with this, managed to evacuate its soldiers from threatened areas.
Colonel Francon, the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Joseph Dunford, said that they specifically chose targets in such a way as to reduce the risk of a blow to the Russian forces. How difficult was it for our military to avoid being hit by Russian or Iranian soldiers?
Rick Francona, military analyst at CNN : It was not easy. The Russians penetrated almost all military facilities in Syria. Now they are a very close ally of the Syrians. Their advisers can be found in most of the formations up to the battalion level. However, as far as I know, General Dunford said that the US has not reported any additional information on the ceasefire line other than the one we usually pass.
However, the Russians certainly knew what would happen. And I am sure that they have redeployed their servicemen so that they will not suffer. And if you look at the list of targets, then objects were touched mainly in the region of Damascus. Only a small number of targets in the province of Homs fell under attack. At the same time, most of the high-ranking Russians and the backbone of their forces are in the northern part of the country. Most of their air defense is deployed there.
Thus, we have bypassed most of the Russian air defense system. I think that this was the plan: to strike at objects that were supposedly weakerly covered and where there should not be Russians.
