US Department of State: America continues its plans for the summit between Trump and Kim

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) –┬áThe State Department said on Tuesday it was continuing its plans for a summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un next month despite reports that Pyongyang has suspended talks with Seoul over US military exercises.

“Kim Jong-un has already said he understands the need for the US and the Republic of Korea (South Korea) for joint exercises and the benefit they will have,” ministry spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in a statement shortly after North Korea’s announcement.

“We will continue to move forward and plan to meet President Trump and Kim Jong-un,” she said.
