Wall Street closes lower – Dow Jones ends 8-day rally

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – US stocks tumbled on Tuesday and the Dow Jones industrial average ended an eight-day rally after US bond yields rose and retail sales boosted inflation concerns as investors looked worried about talks between the United States and China.

Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average shed 193 points, or 0.78 percent, to 24,706.41.

The benchmark S & P 500 shed 18.68 points, or 0.68 percent, to 2,711.45 points.

The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 59.69 points, or 0.81 percent, to 7351.63.
