US accuses Russia of helping Sanders

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — US officials told US Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders in the 2020 presidential election that Russia would support his campaign , reports The Washington Post, citing informed sources.

According to sources, the incumbent head of state Donald Trump and the US Congress were also informed about the Russian assistance to the senator from Vermont .

However, it is not known in what form Russia is providing assistance to Sanders.

The politician himself, in his commentary, called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to “stay away” from the US election.

During the 2016 US presidential election, Russia was also accused of supporting Sanders in order to bring discord to the electorate of the Democrats and ensure victory for Republican candidate Donald Trump.
