US announced readiness “anywhere” to respond to Iran’s threats

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — The US is ready “anywhere” to respond to actions by Iran, which Washington considers a threat to security in the Middle East. This was stated by a senior official of the US State Department on Monday, December 30.

“The incident shows that we can answer not only in Iraq, we can answer anywhere, where, in our opinion, it makes sense for us,” – thus the representative of the State Department commented on the reaction of the Iranian authorities to the blows inflicted by the United States in five the objects of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement in Syria and Iraq.

He added that this is also related to the security interests of partners and allies while neutralizing the threat to the Middle East.

On December 29, the United States of America delivered five strikes against objects of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement in Syria and Iraq.

According to a spokesman for the US Department of Defense, Jonathan Hoffman, the strikes were targeted and defensive in nature and were delivered “after Hezbollah’s repeated attacks on bases in Iraq,” where the US military is stationed among the coalition forces of Operation Unshakable Decision.

Iranian authorities condemned US air strikes against Hezbollah militias and called Washington’s actions terrorism.

In the past few years, Hezbollah Lebanese fighters have been helping Syrian government forces fight the militants. The organization is banned in the United States, Israel and the European Union. Hezbollah was also recognized as a terrorist by members of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Russia considers the movement a legitimate socio-political force.
