US calls for continued pressure on North Korea

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) –┬áThe United States will look for support at a meeting on a landmark treaty banning nuclear proliferation “to continue to put pressure on North Korea to fulfill its obligations,” US Ambassador to Disarmament Robert Wood said on Thursday.

“The United States will remain committed to the full, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of North Korea,” Wood told a news conference in Geneva ahead of a conference on the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty that would begin on Monday and last two weeks.

“With regard to the lobbying campaign, the things that are of great interest to us are continuing pressure, in terms of sanctions, and ensuring that North Korea will not be able to get funds to help it develop its nuclear program and ballistic missile program,” Wood said.
