SYRIA (OBSERVATORY) – Russian combat aircraft flew at least four times over the US destroyer USS Donald Cook, located in the Mediterranean Sea, the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reports.
According to the publication, the US Navy ship came to a distance of 100 kilometers from the Syrian city of Tartus, which houses the Russian naval base.
Earlier, Washington Examiner, citing a source in the Pentagon, said that USS Donald Cook left the port in Cyprus on Monday and headed towards Syria.
It is noted that the destroyer is equipped with 60 cruise missiles “Tomahawk”.
Earlier on Monday, US President Donald Trump said that Washington plans within the next 24-48 hours to take a decision on the response to a chemical attack allegedly taking place in the Syrian city of the Duma. Answering a question about whether he excludes military actions, the American leader said: “Nothing is out of the question.”
