US discussed with Russia how to avoid casualties during the attack on Syria

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – The US discussed with Moscow measures aimed at avoiding victims during the attack on Syria, a representative of the presidential administration told reporters on Saturday.

“We were in touch with the relevant authorities in Moscow to ensure that during this operation we took all necessary steps and recommend that Russia do the same to avoid victims,” he said during a telephone briefing. At the same time, he confirmed that specific goals were not reported to the Russians.

The United States, Britain and France hit rocket attacks on Syrian government facilities on Saturday morning, which they believe are used to produce chemical weapons. From 3.42 Moscow time to 5.10 Moscow time they released over 100 missiles in Syria, most of which were shot down by Syrian air defense.

The Russian forces were not involved, but they monitored all the launches. Russian President Vladimir Putin described the attacks as an act of aggression against a sovereign state, despite the fact that neither Russian military experts nor local residents confirmed the fact of the chemical attack, which became the pretext for strikes.
