US official warns of second wave of coronavirus emerge in China

US, WASHINGTON (NEWS OBSERVATORY) — In China could begin a second wave of coronavirus, to the extent that the country will cancel the quarantine, the head of the Center for Disease Control of the US, Anthony Fauchi.

“China simply closed the country … As they lift restrictions and return to normal life, a second wave (of illness) may occur. I hope this does not happen,” Fauchi said on ABC.

Speaking about the prospects of a pandemic in the United States, the expert noted that it could last several months, which mainly depends on the “effectiveness of control measures” over the spread of the disease.

“It will be from several weeks to several months. If you want to know what the dynamics will be, look at China and South Korea. In China, they have reached a peak and are now declining. A couple of days ago there were (registered) only 11 cases, which is negligible compared to what was there,” he said.

Fauci added that while restrictions on internal movements in the United States are not considered seriously, in contrast to restrictions on the operation of restaurants.

The World Health Organization ( WHO ) on March 11 declared the outbreak of the new coronavirus COVID-19 a pandemic. More than 142 thousand people in 135 countries are already infected in the world, the majority have recovered, more than 5.3 thousand people have died.
