US prepared sanctions against the state debt of Russia and a number of Russian banks

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – Washington prepared a package of sanctions on Russia’s public debt and a number of Russian banks. It is proposed to introduce the restriction in connection with the so-called Skripal affair.

According to the text of the bill , placed in the database of the documents of the US Congress, provides for the introduction of a complete ban on any transactions with the Russian national debt for American individuals and legal entities.

Also proposed the introduction of a ban on transactions and transactions with a number of Russian banks.

The authors of the bill called it a response to the poisoning in Salisbury of a British agent and ex-employee of the Chief Intelligence (GRU) Sergei Skripal.

Skripal and his daughter Julia were poisoned in early March. London claims that they were exposed to nerve agents of Russian origin and blames Moscow for what happened.

Despite the fact that Russia categorically denies these accusations, the US and nearly 30 other countries have sent Russian diplomats from their territory in solidarity with the position of the British authorities.
