UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – The US requested a vote in the UN Security Council on their draft resolution on the establishment of a new mechanism for investigating chemical attacks in Syria. This is reported by referring to a diplomatic source in the UN.
“The voting was requested,” the source said .
The Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the United Nations, Karel van Oster, said that on the eve of “the experts worked late with all members of the UN Security Council on the text of the draft resolution of the United States.”
“Our goal and hope is that today we will adopt this resolution,” he said.
Earlier, the Syrian Permanent Representative to the United Nations said that Damascus was ready to contribute to the work of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
