US says it is concerned about China’s purchases of Iranian oil

UNITED STATES, WASHINGTON (OBSERVATORY) — The United States is “very concerned” about China’s purchases of Iranian oil, US Deputy Energy Secretary Dan Prolet said on Monday.

“We are very concerned about Chinese purchases, especially the government,” he said on the sidelines of an energy conference in the UAE. He said US officials will discuss the issue with the Chinese government.

The United States last year pulled out of a 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and reimposed sanctions to stifle Iran’s vital oil trade.
