UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY) – The second US destroyer can arrive in the Mediterranean for a few days in addition to the destroyer USS Donald Cook, which is already in the region, the Wall Street Journal reports citing US defense officials.
“The US already has one USS Donald Cook destroyer in the east of the Mediterranean, from where it can participate in any attack on Syria … The second, USS Porter, can get there in a few days,” the newspaper said.
Earlier, some Western countries accused Syria of committing a chemical attack on the Syrian city of the Duma in East Ghouta.
Russia denied the information bombardment of the use of a bomb with chlorine, allegedly dropped by Syrian military.
The Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement that the purpose of the throw-in on the use of poisonous substances by the Syrian government troops was the desire to shield terrorists and justify possible power strikes from outside.
It is noted that on March 13, the Russian General Staff was warned about the provocation with the imposition of the use of chemical weapons on the upcoming fighters in East Ghouta.
The Russian military expressed the opinion that this US provocation was later used as an excuse for striking Syria.
