US special envoy to Syria will visit Turkey on Thursday

UNITED STATES (OBSERVATORY NEWS) — James Jeffrey, the US special envoy to Syria, intends to visit Turkey and Saudi Arabia between Thursday and Monday, to discuss the latest developments in Syria and Iraq.

On Wednesday, the US State Department announced in a statement that Jeffrey was visiting Turkey on Thursday to meet senior Turkish officials and some of the Syrian opposition.

The statement added, that during his visit, Jeffrey will discuss the issue of implementing the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254 on Syria.

He indicated that Jeffrey will then go to the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to meet high-ranking officials to discuss the recent situation in Syria and Iraq.
